a usenet binary autoposter for unix
by Jim Faulkner
IntroductionNewspost is a usenet binary autoposter for Unix. It is meant to be an all-in-one posting solution. Using newspost, it is a one command job to encode and post as many files as you like to your favorite newsgroup.
In addition to posting files, Newspost will automatically create and post .sfv checksum files. Newspost 2.0 can create .par parity volumes, and supports both yencoding and uuencoding.
Support for .sfv files comes from cksfv. The uuencoding code is based on some of the GNU Project's code. The code for creating parity volumes comes from parchive v1.1. Good thing everything is licensed under the GPL!

ScreenshotsNewspost is a text app, but following are screenshots of it running in a terminal emulator, and screenshots of what the post looks like in the pan newsreader.
Generating par files, in the middle of that post, finished posting, and that post in pan.
Another post, editing the text prefix, posting, after the post, and in pan.
A post over a slower link using yencoding, after it, and that post in pan.
Version 1.20: in the middle of a post, after the post is done, and that post in pan.
Older versions: just finished a post, that post in pan.
